Read My Shelf: 50 x 50 Booklist 📚📚📚 {Day 85}

Hello 👋 Friends ~ a few of you expressed interest in my 50 books off of my owned shelf that I’m trying to read by the time I’m 50! A few stipulations. Two of these are on my Kindle owned shelf, as they hard to find physically. I also reserved the right to use any form to read these as long as I own a physical copy. For example, I own Moby Dick, but if I want to check out the audiobook version from the library, that is fine. I also gave myself two switch outs. If for some reason, I really can’t read a book, I’m allowed to switch it out from my shelves. I started this project in mid-2025?, so I have till June 2030 😅😳 to complete it. The huge nonfiction are the ones I’m mostly concerned about! 😂 I tried to balance a few lighter things, while still challenging myself. I kept most? if not all of these books out of the great book pack-away for our remodeling. ♥️📚🥰

  1. I am trying to read 50 of my owned books this year…I have been on a mission for a few years to read them down to zero. My goal this year is 50, but secondary goal was to end up with under 100 owned FICTION books, because this goal doesn’t include my nonfiction, LOL. The only problem is that books continue to come into my house (gifted, bought, or won in giveways), so while it seems like I am making progress, and I am, the list continues to grow, LOL. So far, I have read 29 owned fiction books, bought 15 (but a few are nonfiction so my numbers get skewed) and won or was gifted 6…so, how am I doing, LOL?! Also, my birthday is this month…soo…LOL! Now, as to your list, it seems daunting to me because most of your books are not genres I read, but hopefully it is a fun list for you!

    1. Yes, Cindy. I totally understand! Reader and Book Lover Problems! lol! 😂 I think your project is harder actually because I just chose these 50, I’m not attempting to read all my unread, owned ones! 😆😉♥️

    I wish I’d started it earlier, I’m already 46!
    I also like the idea of reading books that are already on my shelf. Sometimes guests in our home will ask if I’ve read all the books they see on the bookshelves, and I most certainly have not. I’ll have to consider putting together a list. I might start by logging the books I’ve already read this year! 😂

  3. I love book lists like this. I’m not necessarily doing “40 before 40” (my next “big” birthday), but I have compiled a list of books/authors that I have as what I call “most anticipated”. My hopes and goals for that are that I find and discover new titles and authors to love. My reading hopes and dreams for the rest of my 30s are that I find a whole bunch of new stories to love and authors to get into. I’m hoping to also get sucked into a few series that just grab me and won’t let me go. {{smiles}} My 20s found me discovering a love for fiction, and I want my 30s to be about discovering stories that I love. ♥ So far, I’ve got a good start with my list and what I’ve found!
